With the rising cost of higher education, college students and their parents have increased expectations about the role institutions should play in connecting students with internship and career opportunities. Career services teams are faced with the daunting task of exposing their students to as many different career paths and types of jobs as possible, despite staff and budget constraints. Now, more than ever, the modern career services professional must be strategic and efficient with their use of programming, technology, and alumni volunteers. After taking this 3-unit virtual course, you’ll walk away as a certified student engagement strategist equipped with the knowledge and skills to modernize the way you target student populations, deliver career programming, and partner with colleagues in alumni relations to expand your office’s reach through alumni volunteers.
FORMATRegistrants have the flexibility to move through the course (i.e., watch each unit recording) at their own pace. Each week, the Lead Instructor will host an open Office Hours call, where you can ask questions, discuss unit homework, and learn what other institutions are doing to engage students in career exploration.
Coupling innovation with proven best practices, this course helps you take advantage of the technologies available to you to reach students. Administrators who complete the course will understand which metrics are important to track, ways to boost digital engagement, and strategies for interpreting student data.
Tracking the impact of changes helps you refine your strategy. This course explains how to evaluate the maturity of your engagement strategy against the Wisr Engagement Framework and explores how to quantitatively measure and visualize change over time. That means your department keeps improving and you look awesome in meetings.
