WSU and Wisr Awarded the NSC Research Center SEM Research Track Honor

Cleveland, OH – During the 2020 AACRAO Strategic Enrollment Management Conference Wisr presented alongside partner institution Wayne State University for the session Adapting to Change: Moving Campus Communities Online to Drive Enrollment and Yield.

The session explored Wayne State’s abrupt pivot to an online engagement strategy during the height of their admissions season when COVID-19 hit. The adaptation was made within a day and resulted in a strong partnership between Wayne State and Wisr as their chosen digital solutions provider.

Adapting to Change was one of five sessions to be awarded The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center SEM Research Track honor at the conference. The award is designed to bring attention to sessions that focus on the use of data and research to achieve enrollment goals.

Wayne State representatives Dawn Medley, Associate VP of Enrollment Management, and Kate Dyki, Program Management Specialist, outlined the implementation of their “Wiser Warriors” program which launched with 40 peer mentors that were then matched with admitted students. “I describe Wisr as combining the best bits of social media platforms . . . but really tailored just for higher education,” said Dyki. She highlighted the benefits of the platform that focus on communities hosted on one centralized page that could pull information from offices across the university.

Wisr’s VP of Customer Success, Christine Vienna, further explored how Wisr’s capabilities directly compliment the needs of Gen Z who are defined as digital natives. The incoming cohort of students live online and are particularly concerned with the protection of their data and value secure platforms to interact with one another on.
